Clearly, SONY is spending a fortune in promoting the VAIO X in India. We made visits to few local SONY stores and all units have already been sold!

SONY India is now ready to launch WiMax-enabled laptops in India, but is currently waiting for the govenment to complete the wireless broadband spectrum allocation process.
SONY is also determined to capture 20% of the total domestic notebook market by March 2011.
“Once the 3G auctions takes place and private players come into the space, we will come out with our products, which will have WiMAX chips embedded into them. These will be prices between Rs 35,000 to RS 65,000,” Sachin Thapar, Division Head, IT, Gaming and Mobile Business at Sony India
SONY also wishes to increase its netbook sales and wants to hold 12% of its total revenue
We think that SONY won’t be able to get those figures until it reduces the price of its under-powered netbooks. Selling a 11.6-inch netbook equipped with Atom Z540/Z550 processor at Rs 64,000 ($1360) won’t get them anywhere near to those figures

At the SONY VAIO X’s launch event in New Delhi, India, we were actually surprised to the very famous Indian bollywood actress, Ms Kareena Kapoor. Famous for her Zero figure, she was seen promoting the VAIO X as the new Zero Figure in capital.
Not surprisingly, SONY itself is saying the same thing on Sony’s India site: The New Zero Figure.
“The whole size zero thing in India has more to do with people being slim and lightweight. And I am slim and lightweight. And so is this laptop. I think this new laptop is very chic and sexy and people also often associate me with these qualities”,

SONY VAIO X has been officially launched in India. Two models are being offered: VPCX113KG (64GB SSD) for Rs. 64,990 and VPCX117LG (128GB SSD) for Rs. 84,990
It has 2GHz Atom Z550 processor.
