Samsung N510 Mini Laptop REVIEW – price information

10 Oct

The Samsung N510 sports an ION chipset and is currently available only in Europe and UK. We have the import model with us and we have been talk with the folks at Samsung regarding its availability in other parts of the world.

The Samsung N510 has an Nvidia’s ION LE chipset, which lets it to 1080p HD videos. Although it makes less sense to view them on its small 11.6-inch display that pack sin 1366×768 resolution. The keyboard on this little thing deserves a lot of praise. The keys have very nice tactile feedback and provide nice touch typing experience.

Being equipped with an ION chipset, it should pathetic battery life, right? Well, that is not the case it still managed to pass 5.5 hours in our tests. Granted, we did not expect it to this well

The display, unlike most of the modern netbooks, is matte. This makes it great for using outdoors as it keeps away the annoying reflections.

There is an HDMI port so that you can connect your device to the bigger screen that will do justice to those 1080p videos that you have on your hard disk, which has the capacity of 160GB. Since it is the normal 2.5-inch HDD, you can replace it with any usual netbook battery. RAM is stuck at 1GB which is the most common situation in netbooks, thanks to Microsoft.

Dell Inspiron 11z CULV netbook gets official – This netbook is quite strong!

4 Sep

The much-awaited 11-inch netbook/mini- laptop, the Inspiron 11z, has now been made public finally by Dell. You must be pondering over the ‘much-awaited’ tag and it is because of due its uniqueness as most of the netbooks that come with Intel Atom processors, this new netbook from Dell uses an Intel Celeron processor that runs at 1.2GHz clock speed which is noticeably faster than any Intel Atom processor released till date. And so is the reason for selling them with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Interestingly, there are no visible left and right click buttons. So about usage which now cannot be commented. But we guess that Dell must have made some enhancements to the touchpad to make it usable for the normal consumer.

It even packs in an HDMI port, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard disk, and this things are very uncommon in other netbooks due to the restrictions by Microsoft according to which a manufacture cannot use Windows XP on a netbook that has more than 160GB HDD or/and 1GB RAM.

Specifications:-

  • CPU: 1.2GHz Intel Celeron 723 CULV processor
  • Video: Intel GS45 integrated graphics
  • Display: 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixels
  • OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Storage: 250GB, 5400rpm HDD
  • WiFi: Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g
  • Webcam: 1.3MP
  • Connectivity: Ethernet, 3 USB ports, 3-in-1 card reader, HDMI output
  • Battery: 28WHr, 3 cell Li-Ion battery
  • Dimensions: 11.5″ x 8.4″ x 0.9″
  • Weight: 3 pounds

And this all worth just for $399. We say it is great deal for what you get: more horsepower and RAM along with hi-resolution screen and HDMI output, you cannot go wrong with this machine.

Note that it is yet to be launched in India. Only Mini 10, Mini 10v and Mini 12 are available at the time of this post

Wipro WLG7E3800 Mini Laptop Netbook: Should you buy yourself Wipro Ego netbook/mini-Laptop?

29 Aug

wipro-ego-netbookWe posted the review of the Wipro Ego netbook few days back. In the review, we highlighted the fact that since the Wipro netbook comes with just 3-cell battery, it won’t be able to give you more than 1.5 hours of battery life with active WiFi use. This forces us to think that if we should recommend it to buy it as some netbooks like Acer Aspire D250 offer far better battery life as it comes with 6-cell battery and costs same as Wipro BM 2700 netbook.

If you a die-hard Wipro fan, only then you should tell yourself to buy it. Otherwise, opt for a netbook with 6-cell battery.
