As published here, “We have come to the ‘Studio Tord Boontje’ edition is now available with Windows 7 Starter edition”. Also quoting the words, published on the website which says, “Frankly speaking, if you ask us, we won’t recommend you to buy this netbook as it runs Atom N270 which is, by no means, the most advanced and power-sipping processor. Secondly, the machine is over-priced for what it offers. 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM coupled with N270 makes the overall deal look awful.”

Aero for Windows xp : how to

27 Sep

Aero by Windows Vista is proving quite attracting to its users. Though some might still stuck with their old OS (Windows XP), and trust me trying their hands on this little application, FastAero is of no harm at all, which (tries to) mimic Aero effects offered by Vista.

I just tried it on my netbook and it is takes just 12MB RAM to run! Try it! Installation is simple too. Just unzip the zip file and run the EXE.

26 Sep

So here is the good news for all you people out there. Now manufactures can install any of the Windows 7 version. Earlier they were forced to cut down version of windows 7, but now no prohibition of such kind will be enforced on the netbook manufactures. Earlier, 3 application limit was removed from the Windows 7 Starter and with this big news, we are very sure that most of the netbook manufactures as-well-as buyers will show sign of relief.

To keep the cost as minimum as possible, the netbook manufactures for sure stand with the Windows 7 starter or Windows 7 Basic version.

HCL MILEAP MH 04 Mini Laptop Review, Price and Verdict – Netbook India exclusive

21 Sep

The MILEAP series seemed quite a delusion, to put it straight for the HCL lovers. The MILEAP MH 04 is another venture that goes down to face its even tougher netbook counterparts, that are quite advanced to handle. It is said to be an MSI Wind under the veil. The HCL with MH 04 tries to upgrade by providing a larger view with a bigger screen(10 inch, 1024 X 600 resolution) and a better processor- Intel Atom (1.6 Ghz).

One thing that may attract you is the Windows XP Home Edition CD allowing you to re-install in case of discrepancies. Turning to the memory portion now, RAM is 1GB DDR2 (extendable up to 2GB) and Hard Disk is of 80 GB SATA. The netbook comes with a 2200 mAh 3 -cell battery(allowing you about 3hrs uninterrupted work if used without WiFi)  and isn’t too hefty with almost 1.2 kg weight. However, netbooks in this category offer much more. Most of the netbooks offer more hard disk space, better and higher capacity battery. HCL MiLeap MH 04 disappoints in this area.

It is bluetooth and Wifi enabled with Ethernet connectivity as well. A 1.3 MP web camera is situated right above the screen enabling easy video calls and chats. And about the USB Ports, it has 3 of them, one of them on the right and other two on left. (more…)
